Situation
OnSpot Dermatology was a fast-growing healthcare startup with 10+ sites and no internal technical manager, and its IT spend was spread across overlapping tools and vendor contracts.
Task
As the company’s first internal technical manager, turn business and clinical needs into infrastructure, security, and SaaS roadmaps, and cut IT operating costs while improving reliability.
Action
- Analyzed stakeholders, vendors, and procurement contracts for spend, utilization, and service quality.
- Built the cost optimization strategy, negotiated vendor contracts, and moved services to more efficient providers under formal change control.
- Owned programs end to end, from requirements and scope through implementation, validation, rollout, and operational handoff.
- Tracked milestones, dependencies, risks, KPIs, and stakeholder status in Smartsheet and Jira.
- Monitored spend against the approved budget baseline to confirm the savings as they landed.
Result
- Achieved 20% cost savings on a $1M IT budget while improving systems reliability.
- Improved vendor performance and standardized platforms across the organization.
- Documented the realized benefits, updated budget forecasts, and handed the results to ongoing IT and financial governance.
